The New Year

Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky, the flying cloud, the frosty light: The year is dying in the night; Ring out, wild bells, and let him die.

Ring out the old, ring in the new, Ring, happy bells, across the snow; The Year is going, let him go; Ring out the false, ring in the true.

                                                                                     - from "In Memoriam" by Alfred Lord Tennyson

Another thought:

A glad New Year or a sad New Year,

Oh what shall the New Year be?

I can not tell what it hath in store.

I would that I might foresee;

But God knows well, I need no more,

Is that enough for me?

As we set aside this old year of 2020 for better or worse, letting him go on his way into the anvils of time and history and look toward a New Year, we must do our best to hold onto the thought that God has us! We were made for these times not unprepared, but cradled in His Care, prepared for the journey and the work that lies ahead. God's got us more than we ever can know. Happy New Year!
